The science is making waves.

Take a closer look at findings from four published shockwave studies: fat-cell development in the lab, waist measurements, cellulite scores, and collagen in human skin.

Eight visual scenes bring the research into focus, including a chart of the cellulite study’s measured results.

Laboratory findings and human study results are identified in the video. Results vary by person, device, and treatment protocol.

  2. Fontes et al., Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology (2022) — A six-week human study of abdominal measurements with shockwave and exercise.
  3. Knobloch et al., Dermatology and Therapy (2013) — Focused shockwave plus exercise compared with sham treatment plus the same exercise; cellulite scores at 12 weeks.

0–15 seconds: The science is making waves. In laboratory tests, shockwaves reduced fat buildup in developing human and mouse fat cells, while changing signals that control fat cell formation.

15–30 seconds: The findings reach beyond the lab. In a six week human study, shockwave plus aerobic exercise produced greater waist reductions than exercise alone. Researchers measured the difference.

30–45 seconds: Cellulite research found visible change, too. With shockwave plus exercise, average cellulite scores improved from ten point nine to eight point three. Lower scores mean less severe cellulite.

45–60 seconds: Collagen showed a response, too. Researchers found more collagen in treated abdominal skin from fourteen women. Explore the science behind shockwave with Revitalize ALFA MD.
